Mikkael is born

After some messing around and trying around and looking around, i got inspired by an sweet little dragon, and i thought, cool this one I am going to try.

So i got my wool and my needles and the picture and started off with needling a little head …. here you can see the outcome :

cute … isn’t he ? :D
So the next thing i started was the body … 4 numbers to big for the head … but ok, the head can be made bigger - not really a problem, is it ? :D
Next i made legs, and failed terrible.
What followed was a body, some leg pieces and a head in a box and a mighty angry me in front of the pc.

Next day came along and i was all up to new testing's.
But by then i thought … he doesn’t really look like a dragon, does he …. he much more looks like a turtle. So i had to go to the internet and search for turtle pictures.

Lots of lovely turtle pictures, but not really any i wanted to make, i wanted it to look cute and baby like.
That was when my man - Jörg - told me to make it a bit like a ninja turtle.

Oh boy, i thought … means i have to cover the whole head green … yuck.

But ok…. the idea wasn’t all that bad, so off i want with poking the wool like mad … so concentrated on poking again, that i completely forgot to take pictures of the work in progress …. i am sorry, just the finished baby is here …

HERE you find the link to the pictures and description of : MIKKAEL !! :D

Barney is finished

Today i finished Barney.
Here is the link to Barney, in case you missed the posting.
He is my first bear with hanging ears. I always liked the look of it, but no teddy till yet could wear them without looking stupid.
Little Barney on the other hand, he did look just strange with normal ears, so down the went, and further down, just till the fit nicely where they are now.
Yesterday i went to town, got me some more wool for my cardigan, and some black felting wool, and a little piece of fabric
001
It is very slippery and tight knit, so i make little bags out of it to fill with glass or steel pellets.
I just don’t feel comfortable to fill them in without any securing them.

I do have to get used to it, to make more pictures on the way. But this might take some time, i am very photo-lazy :D

Teddy - Barney

Hey ! I am Barney .
I am an innocent, lovely, loving, little Teddy bear, 12cm tall and need lots of love and hugs.
If you want to be my mommy, i promise not to be naughty at all.

new bear coming along nice

last night i cut the pieces before i went to bed.

003

today i did the sewing.
The first pictures shows how i use the running stitch to hold the sole in the leg in place without using pins. Then i just sew it into place.

The same Principe i do with the muzzle too.
I make a holding stitch in the middle of the muzzle, and 1 on each corner where the eyes will be.
Then i do the running stitch around the nose, to hold it all in place.
After this i pin the gusset slightly into place, and start on one side of the neck, sewing right around to the other side of the neck.

But i didn't take any picture of this, you wouldn't see a thing with the yellowish yarn on the yellowish mohair.

This here is the whole parts sewn together.
I did some slight stuffing on the head, used position eyes and cut the hair on the top of the muzzle.
I made the whole nose wet, to get the curls out of the hair, need to let it try till tomorrow.
Hope i get the head in a good shape.

007

Might be a bit of a problem, because - as usually - i didn't underline the fabric and it is stretchy, so i can’t stuff the head to hard.
AND i am not so good in scissor sculpting :/
AND my scissors are not all to sharp anymore !

New project - a little bear

I was a bit undecided (what an understatement), what i want to do next….

So i pulled out all my furs and mohair and looked at them.

Nothing really spoke to me … so i tuck them away again and went watching TV.
All the time i was thinking, what to do - what to do … and was thinking about felting a few test heads to practice, or a few eyes - also to practice.

Then i went to my working table again after TV, and i still didn’t really make up my mind.
So again - i pulled out my box with mohair and furs for minis ….

And this is what i choose in the end :

001

It is really soft and silky - made of micro fibre.
The bear might be a little bit above 10 cm …. smaller i would like to do … but i can’t - they look terrible when i make them.
Which is a shame, because a little bit smaller, and i could make 2 out of such a little plate :D

002

The little dashes on the bottom of the legs and around the nose, are a help for me to line up better, all 2 mm a dash.
And please don’t laugh at me for drawing the sewing line AND the cutting line … my guessing is really bad when it comes to this, and i don’t want to end up with 1mm seam allowance at the pieces.
