Spinning - Huacaya Alpaka - Ole and Pepe

 

the last weeks i was working on those fantastic fleeces of ole and Pepe, see the first post here Spinning - Huacaya Alpaka - Ole and Pepe
and sent them back home on friday

it was 470 grams, in 5 skeins, n-plyed, roughtly 150 to 170 meters on 100 gram

i was so happy to get the drumcarder helping me with this load, and i can just dream on and on of the fluffyness of the carded batts :D
i made each batt 50 grams, and spun a batt a day, and then i spent a day for plying

and on and on and on i spun, i guess you get the idea :D

Spinning - Huacaya Alpaka - Knavesmire Axel

 

yesterday this fantastic fleece arrived at my doorsteps
i wasnt able to open the box straight away, but the pleasure was HUGE when i did today :D

its the fleece of Knavesmire Axel, he was born May 2012, and this cute little baby lives in England :D :D

i am soo sad i am not able to catch the true colours of the fleece, its like dark dark chokolate, with a hue of reddish in the middle, and golden tips
its so fine, like angels hair, and i just love to run my fingers through it

the bad part of such a delightfull fleece, it takes literally ages to pick the vegetables out, and sort it.
and its a HUGE pile of it :D

but can you see the cloud of cobweb like fluff ?
sadly, the time runs, and the fleece still seems as big as to begin with :/

but stay tuned, i will arrive the state of spinning it sooner or later :D

finished the contract of lovele Jelanis fleece Spinning - Huacaya Alpaca - contract :D

1 strand was made into "art yarn" :D
was much more complex then you can see here,
its a blue single, plyed with silk
two times, and this then was plyed with the white single, so actually a 5 ply :)

while i was working on the fleece, i desided to rent a drumcarder, and i made some batts - it sure goes much faster then with handcarders :D

this is how i did it before the drumcarder - always 2 oz of rollags in a package, took me a night to make 4 oz !

and i am a good girl, i was not just before spinning, but also after spinning :D :D
but i see a pot of noodles here *lol*

so i had in the end 1 strand with 2 oz, rather thin spun

and 4 strands with 4 oz in a bit thicker yarn and 4 oz strand of art yarn :)

it already arived in USA and i hope the new owner is happy with it as i was

today i got the most amazing fleece you can imagen
its of 2 german boys, and its soft as a baby bottom :D :D :D
please meet 1st Ole, 2nd Pepe, and 3rd Ole and Pepe together

you can see, the colour on my ground is not really showing all its beauty !
more then a kilo of dreamy pleasure

just a little update on Jelani

often spinner ask, should i wash alpaka ... my answer - yes
and i wash it always, this happens when you wash a CLEAN fleece, with just 1 time pressing under water !!
and the fleece even felt clean !

for the drying i got me some mesh bags :)

and then the little unseen work happens ....
this girl has a lot of guard hairs in between the really soft fur - and i dont want to spoil the yarn - so i plug them all out !

and one thing is sure : this girl loves sand :D
i really ask myself where this sand is hidden, if you take a lock, you see nothing !!
but shaking it a bit, and plugging hair, and open them up, brings all the hidden "treasures" out

a small part is dyed in blue, and blended with some white, with my dyes i dont get pastells, so i have to do the carding
i will show what i am up to with this one later when i start the spinning

so far i prepared 10 oz (280 gram) pure white and 2 oz of pale blue

i pulled the fleece into smaller sections, then into locks, and then i been flicking them

In todays mail was some treasure :)
this fantastic fleece comes from the pretty Jelani
she was winning a championship as a yearling in a very competitive show
