In my Facebook chat group the ladies talked about felted soaps
And they really got me nosy to start my own test ….
Here it is :
I have some strange off white topping, no idea what it is
and not really any use for it, as i like the batting much more for my needle felting.
so … the perfect opportunity to use some of it :D
some bubble wrap i had hidden and i got me a pair of nylon socks too
a bar of soap from the super market to go with it and I took small parts of the wool and lay it out
first layer from right to left and then the 2nd layer from top to bottom
3rd layer from left to right and 4th from bottom to top
and just because a few hair crosswise over the middle under the soap :D
then i started to fold the wool over the soap
holding it tight with one hand … and fiddling out a sock with the other hand
slip your hand into the sock, hold the woolly soap bar and pull the sock over it
because i don't have hair elastics, i took some of my beloved thin wire
fist wetting the whole thing just a bit … rubbing … hrmpf … not really feeling good
wetting more … soaking actually … and pressing the water out of it again
now this feels a bit better
took a tiny bit of my liquid soap and rubbed it all over the bar
and then i held the bar in one hand and RUBBED it against the other hand
very hard to see … click on the picture for a large view
the hair start to come out of the nylon
so i took the nylon off … omg … what a MESS !!
some more liquid soap and then i rubbed and squeezed and massaged
rubbing against my hand and against the bubble foil
it feels like i get in the right direction … fluff pull test in between again and again …
the wool was still rather loose around the bar…
RRRRRUBBBING against the bubbles till they popped…
and here we are … a tiny bit of fluff is still there
it might be the fault of the wool, it is for sure no merino … its HAIRY !
Rinsing it .. cool … giving a little rub … haha it bubbles up with foam … i like it
now the whole thing is drying, i give you more photos later
