over the weekend i worked on some of my angora fluff - not yet finished, but i got something to spin, incase i finish the little black/blue i got :D
shopping is fun :D
other ladies go and buy shoes, i go and buy spindles
actually i was just wanting a jenkins …. so i went to ravelry and had a look if someone sells one
nope - but i found this little pretty one …
and then i though … well the one i got, from https://www.etsy.com/shop/BuckeyeSpindles is fantastic, some more of them is a good thing too
there comes more - much much more ….
because spinning all black is really boring, i took again a break in between and i desided i need to do some learning of the long draw
nothing special, a 34 mic fiber called irish, in the shop
afterwards i was ready to fill the first bobbin (50 grams) and started the next one
i also knitted a bit on my shawl, and i got my turkish out, and spun a bit of some old rollags, i made them last year to test my blending board
and as it is really jsut a tiny amount, an idea is taking shape in my head already :D
AND i am sorting through the last patch of baby quality alpaka - "just" 400 grams *facepalm*
and because this is soooooooooooooooooooooo boring, i also got me some of the angora out, thats just 200 gram
pick pick pick all the shorts, nepps and felted parts out :D
what a long break - sorry
my camera works again, it was just the cable ! i am really glad about this
my new job goes good so far, just officework till now
beside of fotographing my furs for selling them, i didnt do much lately
just spun a bit more of my black merino silk mix AND ! more further down
then i test spun some lovely grey merino, i tried to go thicker, which really is not easy for me, so i made a 3 ply
the 2nd top was a tad easier, and got thick even as a 2 ply, its a lovely high twist yarn
sadly the high twist takes away all the softness :(
but i tried a bought pattern, a hexagon, with the 3ply, and this is lovely ! i need to learn to spin softer, and thicker,
and then i make myself an afghan to cuddle with :D
today i come with a sad news
my camera doesnt work
well the camera works, but i cant upload the fotos :D
so i ordered a new cable, and hope it is the cable and not the camera !
and then i desided to close down mytopteddy - the teddy production that is :D

to start - i can FINALY recieve the mails again :D
thank you all for the comments (yea thats specially for you Mela :D )
i didnt do much yesterday, just washed the test spin sample
and knitted a tiny bit out of it
and collected the final dry baby alpaka
if i am right, this is the last fiber i have to prepare before i start to work
i played with a new fiber mix
18 micron merino, and tussah silk, which i dyed with the left overs of gunmetal dye some time ago
i am going to bled the 2 together, and mix some black bamboo into it
it will be 6 batts, with something like 45 to 50 gram each
i might need to deside if i want to make a 4 or 3 ply
then i knitted a stunning 4 squares, till i was so restless again, and went back to carding :D
here you see 2 batts after the 1st pass through the drumcarder, and 1 batt after 2 passes
i might need to run it though 1 or 2 more times, to get it even more blendet
i did a little sample with my handcards, and this spins like high polished dark steel :)
and yes, its sparkle you can see here !
AND i did a tiny bit of spinning again - i need to finish this black
i desided i dont like to spin black, i can hardly see it, as the light comes from the back.
and i chatted many many hours … :D
i played a bit with my locks, as i didnt clean them good enough before washing and dyeing
i have to pull the locks apart now to get the seeds and grass out
but as i would do this anyway, i saved myself some time and did the whole process sloppy *lol*
later i finished the battmaking of my nice pink/lilac wool
and prepared some baby alpaka for washing
i spent the rest of the day fluffing up and brushing fibers to make small batts
its now all ready to be run through the drumcarder
1 part i already did card, and then dizzed it off, worked wonderfull
and a little test spinning … i LOVE it
AND i finished row 18 !
just 22 rows to go, each 1 sqare shorter then the one before :D
a holliday in germany
i have been sleeping long :D
then we wathced the last movie of the hobbit, and i was knitting - no foto today, i just have no free space :(
and afterwards, about 10pm till saturday at 3 pm i was finishing the carding of my ole and pepe alpaka fleece
some batts had the 1st go already, some didnt - those i had to fluffing it up
make a rather fast batt, or 2 … and then devide it into 4 equal parts, and make the batts
from left to right :
overdyed with red, 100 gram
the palest parts of the fleeces, 105 gram
the medium coloured parts, 130 gram - this was also the colour i took away to dye red with
and finaly on the right, 150 gram of the darkes parts
